Scotland in miniature best describes this little known land,
rolling hills, forests and breathtaking seascapes add this
to the superb fishing that is available and you have the ingredients
for a perfect holiday.
The fishing is superb with everything from small brown trout
in the burns to the vast numbers of good sized Tope that visit
our waters every year. The lochs hold some superb coarse fish
and trout and two famed salmon rivers in our catchment area
the Cree and Bladnoch. We are within easy travelling distance
from most venues and places of interest and the warm waters
of the Gulf provides us with our own unique weather front
which is less harsh than the rest of Scotland and many parts
of England. Pike fishing is plentiful with lochs such as Ken
and Ronald within travelling distance.
The long coastline of Dumfries & Galloway has attracted
sea anglers for years, with magnificent views of the Lake
District, Ireland and the Isle of Man on a clear day. The
Flat Rock at Balcary is a favourite place for catching monster
cod and the run of tope in Luce Bay is excellent, while Dogfish,
bass, conger, mackerel and pollack also provide good sport
in the local waters. Many sea angling trips are available
throughout the region and shore fishing is also quite popular.
The hotel has its own sea fishing rods for complimentary use
by guests.
Superb fly-fishing can be arranged on Dunskey Estate.
We can organize everything, from tuition for beginners, to
complete fishing packages and holidays.
