The Solway Coast Heritage Trail
The Solway coastline is over 200 miles long and offers breathtaking
scenery. This trail takes you on a journey across the region
taking in a wealth of interesting historic places, charming
villages and picturesque harbours. Starting at Annan in the
east, just follow the distinctive signs with the celtic cross,
the route takes you to the Mull of Galloway Scotland’s
most southerly point.
Galloway Tourist Route
Signposted from Gretna in the east or from Ayr in neighbouring
Ayshire to the North West, this route gives you time to explore
the quiet villages near to scenic Loch Ken (Carsphairn, St
John’s town of Dalry, New Galloway, Balmaclellan and
Parton) as well as the busier towns of Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie
,Dumfries and Annan. The whole route is 96 miles however there
are plenty of places to stop along the way.
Burns Heritage trail
This circular trail takes you through some of the most beautiful
landscapes in Scotland. Robert Burns lived most of his short
life in Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway, and his work
was inspired by the land he loved, as well as by the women
he wooed. The trail takes you on a journey through Burns'
life, from his birthplace in Alloway to his grave in Dumfries.
Visit the small towns and villages along the way like Kirkcudbright
Artists Town and Wigtown Book Town and sample some of the
local hospitality as well as the locally caught seafood, fresh
from the Solway Firth.
